World class commissioning
The World Class Commissioning (WCC) programme seeks to ensure improved commissioning. It will deliver this through strategic and long term goals defined with a clear focus on delivering improved health outcomes. The programme has 4 key elements:
1) Vision of WCC identifying a set of measureable outcomes via a clear strategy
2) Set of WCC competencies
3) Assurance Framework
4) Support and Development Framework
NESCT are currently working with PCTs to achieve WCC standards in the commissioning of specialised services.

Commissioning for Quality
Improving Quality in Specialised Services
CQUIN (Commissioning for Quality and Innovation) schemes for specialised services are being developed by NESCT to be incorporated into contracts with providers. These schemes build on the foundations of generic CQUIN schemes incorporated into contracts in 2009/10. Using incentives to improve quality, measures have been established across a range of specialised services to allow for additional payments where improvements in quality have been achieved.
